Thanh Tri – the 3rd Mind Dharma: THE PRACTICE OF UNINTERRUPTED OFFERING – Part 11: CONCLUSION (Đệ tam tâm pháp Thanh Trí: Cúng dường bất khả gián đoạn Bài 11: ĐÔI ĐIỀU KẾT LUẬN)

In the last ten parts, I’ve analyzed super advantages of the 3rdMind Dharma from my mundane and super-mundane experiences. Now I would make a brief conclusion on this mind dharma that you should keep in mind.

I/ NAME OF SPIRITUAL INVENTION

“Pretty Piglet ” – Uninterrupted Offering

Bodhisattva Samantabhadra made the third vow on “making abundant offerings” and now I’ve accordingly invented the 3rdmind dharma: “uninterrupted offering”. This dharma can be demonstrated by the teachings of the enlightened ones as follows:

Holy Master Atisha ư about the dharma of making offerings in “A Lamp for the Enlightenment Path”:

Then, to gain the Preceptor – Initiation

One must first win a holy Guru

By giving him attendance and precious things

And by obedience to his words

Holy Master Avagosha taught in “Fifty Verses on Guru Devotion”:

Making offerings with pure mind and body (verse 18)

Making abundant offerings with your earnestness (verse 19)

Offering (to your Guru) what you treasure most (verse 20)

Giving (to your Guru) is the same as making offerings to all buddhas (verse 21)

Makingofferings is taught in the Avatamsaka Sutra (The Flower Adornment Sutra): “do not let the offering to the kalyanamitra be interrupted” (see “Who is the true spiritual friend?”).

The spiritual invention of Song Nguyen Tantra House on the practice of making offerings with a name of “Pretty Piglet” is specified from the teaching in the Avamtasaka Sutra through my ten articles.

III/ PRACTICESENCOMPASSED IN THE 3RDMIND DHARMA: “PRETTY PIGLET”

1/ The combination of Samantha – Vipassana:

The 3rdmind dharma “Pretty Piglet” is a form of meditation aiming to create a sense of awareness of “what the state of our mind is”. The subject of meditation is “Pretty Piglet” which is also considered the “manifestation” of the Guru. By this mind dharma, the practitioner can practice samantha, meaning focusing his mind on one subject without having to sit in meditation posture and in one holy place. His feet won’t get pain for having to sit for a long time. He just needs remember to practice “Pretty Piglet” each day, each houroreach minute, which gives as many results as thepractice of meditation (on subject) in other Buddhist schools. At the same time, he is also practicingvipassana, in which he visualizes the Guru as Yidam. This is the essence of Tantric meditation which encompasses unequalled value: “[meditate on the Guru] is better than thousands of kalpas of visualizing the Yidam” (from “Tantra– Noble Manifestation”) and “[such practice of offering] can confer Buddhahood [on a disciple] in one life time” (from “50 Verses on Guru Devotion”).

2/ Forming the foundation of Enlightenment:

Famous Tantric master Avagosha affirms that Guru devotion is the foundation of enlightenment. The mind dharma of “Pretty Piglet” meets all conditions and requirements of offering practice that Avagosha has pointed out in his famous work “50 Verse on Guru Devotion”. Hence, practicing “Pretty Piglet” is also a way for showing Guru devotion, by which the practitioner is building the foundation of enlightenment.

3/ Connection with Pure Energy:

The practitioner practicing the 3rdMind Dharma means he is connecting with the source of pure energy from Guru, Yidam, Dakini through the transmission channel of the (Root) Guru. This helps set his behavior of body, speech and mind in the right orbit of Dharma, even though he has yet gained frequent awareness. Just like a lazy worker in a big company even can enjoy preferential policies and get admiration from the outsiders. Long-time practice of the “Pretty Piglet” shall form the right mindfulness which revolves around Guru, Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.

IV/ NOTICES:

Bai-shi Ceremony

1/ When is the practitioner permitted to rehearse/officially practice the 3rdMind Dharma: Uninterrupted Offering? Two years since the practitioner got Dharma name, he can make a phone call to the Guru for petition. Those who are official members, which means having already completed Bai-shi ceremony (i.e refuge ceremony) are eligible to official practice. Each spiritual level will be granted with the certificate signed and sealed by the Director of ITA.

2/ Followers or disciples who have yet got Guru’s permission should not rehearse/officially practice because Master Atisha warns that:

Having not acquired the Preceptor-Initiation

Having not permitted by the Preceptor

Onedoes Mantra practice on his own

He could not even succeed

(from “A Lamp for the Enlightenment Path”)

Song Nguyen Tantra House

3/ The practitioner should not tell others about mind dharmas, particularly the third one for it will create obstructions derived from arrogant thinking: “of Song Nguyen Tantra House”, “by Song Nguyen Tantra House” and “because of Song Nguyen Tantra House”

4/ Depending on their conditions, each practitioner will receive “Official Dharma Transmission”, thus no one knows who has got dharma transmission. This aims to avoid mutual envy which will cause loss of blessings and merits.

V/ CONCLUSION

Part 11 will end the series of the 3rdMind Dharma: Uninterrupted Offering. Hope you can perceive the true meaning of and practice in alignment with my teachings. Om Mani Padme Hum!

  3. Tantra Ashihata (Simon Michael) says:
    Dear holy Guru ,

my name is Tantra Ashihata .

Thank you for given to us  this wonderful article.

May you giving us the spirit of uninterrupted  offering.

May Guru live long for the seek of happiness of all sentient being.

    Om mani padme hum.

  4. Mật Diệu Hằng says:
    Dear holy Guru,

Thank you so much for your wonderful article pointing out the main factors for the third mind dharma of “uninterrupted offering” so that the learner can get the achievement in secular life and spiritual life.

I bear in mind that Guru devotion is the top important practice, then I need to practice this method continuously,  non- stop for the achievement. I will get nothing but suffering in samsara if I do not make Guru devotion. It is the foundation for the liberation,  for even from the small success in secular life to the spiritual achievement.

May Guru have a good health anđ live long for the sake of all beings.

May Mat Hoang Phuc be reborn in the high realms

May all beings be free from suffering and achieve the happiness of Buddha’s nature.

    Om Mani Padme Hum

  5. Tantra Mashinaga says:
    Dear Guru,

Thank you for this article. I humbly wait for the time my guru gives me my personal dharma transmission. I only practice a general form of buddhism because I have yet to have a guru’s teaching.

May guru live a long and happy life

May all beings be free of suffering and attain happiness

    Om Mani Padme Hum

    Tantra Mashinaga (Mark Hamilton)

  6. Tantra Upatissa says:

Dear Guru thanks for sharing this article. Reading the articles again and again helps me understand the things clearly and helps me find it’s true meaning. Making offering with name of Pretty Piglet helps us meditate on Guru in which ever position we are. By reading this article I came to know that only after a desciple going through Bai-Shi ceremony or being officially received by Guru and given Dharma name he can start practicing meditation taught by Guru. Without Guru permission one should not practise as he will not succeed as mentioned in this article and also in few other Dharma books. We shall not disclose the practise of 3rd mind Dharma meditation to others who are not official members of Tantra House as it may cause disturbance. Each desciple will be taught at right time when he has all favourable conditions to learn and practice.

May Guru and his consort live long for sake of other beings.

May all beings be free from suffering and get enlightened.

    Om Mani Padme Hum!!!
